On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, a recognition event was held for RCS President Lewis W. Adkins, Jr., hosted by some of his esteemed colleagues and friends including, Glen L. Stephens, President of G. Stephens, Inc., Dr. Albert A. Bragg, Jr., Executive Director, Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, Inc. and Eufrancia Lash, Deputy Director of Public Service and Neighborhood Assistance, City of Akron. The event took place at Fairlawn Country Club to honor the commitment and continued dedication that Lewis has put forth to the Akron community for the past 20 years, as well as the importance of education for all of the children in the greater Akron area. Lewis was appointed by Governor John Kasich to the Board of Trustees for the University of Akron, February 2017 and is currently serving his last 2 years of his appointment as Chair to the Board of Trustees which will conclude on July 1, 2025. He endures countless hours working with President Nemer and all levels of Administration and the Board to continue to make the University of Akron a safe and recognized institution for advanced learning. He started as a Law Clerk with the late Judge James R. Williams, to whom he credits a lot of his career to, a very regal and distinguished man who took Lewis under his wing. Throughout the evening, we heard many great speeches about Lewis and his career and through the relationships he has created with his colleagues and friends: Mayor Shammas Malik, City of Akron, President, R.J. Nemer, The University of Akron, Christine Mayer, President, GAR Foundation and Vice Chair, Board of Trustees, Bernett Williams, Vice President of External Affairs, Akron Children’s Hospital, Diana Feitl, Partner and Jennifer Varhola, Client Services Manager, Roetzel & Andress and his daughter Jaya Adkins. Each individual brought a different perspective of Lewis along his career with their very own personal touch. Lewis gave a short thank you to everyone and we continued to celebrate the evening. It was great to see so many people who truly respect and honor Lewis as a great attorney, community leader and family man.
